Puppy Intro

YOU HAVE A PUPPY?? OMG WE LOVE PUPPIES!

Ahem, sorry about that.  But we DO love puppies.  And we want them to grow into dogs who are happy and comfortable with anything that life throws at them, which includes grooming.

Depending on the breed, your puppy will likely be seeing a groomer every 8-12 weeks for the rest of their life, so let's make it as stress free and enjoyable as possible.

Our puppy intro sessions are designed to get your puppy used to the sounds, smells and touches they will experience at the groomers so that when they are old enough for a full groom, they will take it all in their stride.

Puppy Intro takes place over 3 short sessions, getting your puppy ready for their first full groom.  The best time to start is at 14 weeks; after they have had their 12 week vaccinations, but while they are still young enough to accept new experiences easily.

Puppy Course - £75 for 3 Sessions

Session 1 - 14 weeks
20-30 mins

This session is all about getting used to the salon environment and the strange lady with the brush. Bring puppy's favourite treats for lots of rewards while we explore the bath, table and brushes, and all the new smells.  We will also show you how to get your puppy used to having their feet, faces and tails touched.

Session 2 - 18 weeks
30-45 mins

Depending on how settled your puppy is, we can give them a gentle bath and fluff dry, or a full body brush. We can practice the holds and touches that puppies will need to get used to in order to make grooming successful in future.

Session 3 - 22 weeks
1 hour

Another gentle bath and dry, with an intro to the sound of the clippers and the feel of the vibrations.  We'll also get used to the sound of the high velocity dryer, and nail clipping.  Tips for you on keeping the coat and nails in good condition between grooms.

Puppy's First Groom

Once puppy course has been completed, we can book your puppy in for their first full groom.  If they are a breed who needs to be shaved, we would not look to do this until their adult coat comes in at around 6-8 months old.  Cutting a puppy's coat too young can affect the adult coat, so we would want to ensure that their coat is ready.  Their first full groom is priced according to their size, coat length and styling requirements (see pricing table above).

If your puppy is particularly nervous, we can schedule additional short sessions before their full groom at £20 per 30 min session.

Extras

We will do our best to complete the groom in the allotted time but occasionally dogs may require extra attention.  In these cases there may be an additional charge for time and/or materials

Extreme matting/Undercoat Removal - £15 per Additional 30 mins

If your dog is severely matted we will recommend that you have them shaved short. In the case of heavy/double coated dogs where this is not recommended, then we will do our best to retain the coat.  This can be a very intensive process needed additional breaks so that the dog does not get stressed and sore, and will attract an additional charge.

Flea infestations - £25 + £20 cancellation per client hour

If we find evidence of a flea infestation in your animal there will be an additional cleaning/fumigation charge.  As we have to cancel our grooms for the rest of the day, you will also be liable for the cost of their appointment at our basic hourly rate.  We will contact you to let you know if this is the case.
