STUFF YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW
1 on 1 Grooming
Every day except Tuesday and Wednesday, your dog(s) will be the only dogs in the salon, so you can be assured of our full attention. This is also ideal for reactive and nervous dogs who might get stressed in a busy environment.
Natural Products
We use only pet-safe, all-natural, hypoallergenic shampoos and conditioners. At the moment we are using products from The Pawdinary, but if you would like us to use your own products you are welcome to bring them along.
Fully Insured
We are fully insured to £5M so you can be assured that should any mishaps occur, your pet will be covered.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the things clients like to ask before booking us. If you want to know anything that's not covered here, just get in touch!
Can you groom my show dog?
At the moment we specialise in pet grooming, so we do not guarantee show-standard styling. Having said that, we do offer a variety of cuts and finishes for your pet, and will always consult with you about how you want your dog to look.
Can you brush my matted dog?
Matted coats can be very uncomfortable for dogs and it very much depends on the type of coat and severity of matting as to whether they can be brushed out. We will do our best but it can be extremely uncomfortable for the dog, and if mats are close to the skin then the only option may be to shave the dog short. We will always consult with you before shaving matted dogs.
Can you shave my husky?
We do not shave double coated dogs like Huskies, Malamutes, Golden Retrievers and Rough Collies. The double coat is very important to help the dog stay both warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and shaving it off means that the dog can no longer regulate their temperature properly. It can also damage the coat long term and in some cases cause alopecia (hair loss). We will therefore not shave a double coated dog except under veterinary advice, or in cases of severe matting.
Do you clean my dog's teeth?
We do not currently offer teeth cleaning as it is a specialised service that requires specialised training! We recommend Pearl West at Pearly Canines in Dickleburgh, It's where we send our own dogs and we wouldn't go anywhere else! Email Pearl at pearlycanines@outlook.com
Will you express anal glands?
Anal gland expression is now classed as a medical procedure and can therefore only be carried out by veterinary staff. If your dog's anal glands need attention we suggest that you have them looked at by your vet.
Can I stay and watch?
We do allow pet parents to stay in certain circumstances e.g. dogs with separation anxiety, recent rescues or high anxiety. However, many dogs find it difficult to settle if their owners stay. Speak to your groomer when booking to decide whether staying or leaving would be better for your dog. There is a great cafe on site at Place Farm so you can always be within arms reach if needed!
My pet has fleas - can you deflea them?
We recommend regular preventative flea treatment to keep your animal free of fleas, but of course there's always the chance that an unwelcome passenger may be aboard when we groom them. If your pet is showing signs of an infestation, then please do not bring them along until they have been successfully treated. There is a cleaning and fumigation charge if animals are found to be infested, as we will need to cancel our appointments for the rest of the day. We do not want to risk passing fleas along to anyone else! The cost is £25 + £20 per hour for each appointment cancelled.
What about ticks?
We will remove any ticks we find on your pet, but due to the risk of tick-borne diseases we recommend that you have your pet checked out at the vet after their appointment.
